IntruGuard Taps Top Denial of Service Expert for its Technical Advisory Board
Stellar researcher to perform key critical review and advising function for innovative Network Behavior Analysis (NBA) Company
Sunnyvale, CA, (May 7, 2007) IntruGuard Devices, Inc. today announced addition of Dr. Jelena Mirkovic to its Technical Advisory Board. Dr. Mirkovic got her MS and PhD from UCLA, where she worked on several network security problems. She has broad research interests, spanning many areas of networking: security, privacy, routing, wireless and sensor networks, and peer-to-peer networks. Her current research is focused on several important network security problems: computer worms and viruses, denial-of-service attacks, and IP spoofing.
"IntruGuard has done the hard work of combining a sound architecture, high performance with delivery expertise," observes Dr. Jelena Mirkovic. "By being part of their advisory board and helping them improve the mission-critical security appliances that keep hackers out and networks safe, I'm helping them create an environment where the Internet can flourish.”
“The main advantage of the IG200/2000 over competitor products is a fine granularity of counters used for traffic parameter monitoring,” adds Dr. Jelena Mirkovic. “This granularity is important because it supports building of a complex and detailed legitimate traffic model facilitating detection of sophisticated attacks that attempt to mimic legitimate traffic. Since the attacker cannot learn or infer the baseline model, the generated attack will inevitably breach some of the fine thresholds set by the IG200/2000, regardless of attack sophistication. At the same time, fine granularity supports precise traffic filtering, minimizing collateral damage to legitimate traffic during an attack. “
"I am delighted that IntruGuard is accountable to such an eminent industry researcher in the space of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. With technology challenges changing the landscape everyday, it is an invaluable asset to have great advisors," says Hemant Jain, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of IntruGuard.
